The Sabbath. Sunday or Saturday?
Exodus 31:14 - 15.
14 You shall keep the Sabbath, therefore, for it is holy to you. Everyone who profanes it shall surely be put to death; for whoever does any work on it, that person shall be cut off from among his people.
15 Work shall be done for six days, but the seventh is the Sabbath of rest, holy to the Lord. Whoever does any work on the Sabbath day, he shall surely be put to death.
The 4th commandment of the Jewish Torah and the 3rd Commandment in the Christian bible.
( The same god and they Cannot agree on anything )
Exodus 20: 8-11
8. Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy. 9. Six days you shall labor and do all your work, 10. but the seventh day is the Sabbath of the Lord your God. In it you shall do no work: you, nor your son, nor your daughter, nor your male servant, nor your female servant, nor your cattle, nor your stranger who is within your gates. 11. For in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the LORD blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it.
No other day has ever been sanctified in the Jewish religion as the day of rest. The Sabbath Day begins at sundown on Friday and ends at sundown on Saturday.

The Jewish bible Tanakh which included first five books (The Torah) were not written down until the middle of the 1st century. prior to this it was handed down orally from Rabbi to Rabbi. The sabbath was and is today recognized and worshiped as a Saturday. No other day has ever been sanctified in the Jewish religion as the day of rest.
Then enter Jesus and birth of Catholicism. There is no passage, word or suggestion anywhere in new testament to the sabbath being a Sunday. Breaking the Sabbath in and around the time of Jesus would have resulted in a stoning and often death. Indeed in the bible Jesus himself is accused of not keeping the sabbath holy when he healed the sick and his disciples were also challenged on the same thing when picking grain from a field as this was seen as working on the sabbath.
But how did it change from Saturday to Sunday occur? The tradition was that the week always started on Sunday therefore the seventh day of the week was a Saturday. This tradition continues today as lot of countries still regard Sunday as the first day of the week, people get paid accordingly. it is an ironic note that the USA one of the most devout Christian countries on the planet still use this system and there sabbath is Sunday the The first day of the week not the seventh. |
The week officially begins on Sunday |
The roman emperor Hadrian 117-138 CE) attempted to completely root out Judaism, which he saw as the cause of continuous rebellions. He prohibited the Torah and the Hebrew calendar and executed Judaic scholars.
When Emperor Constantine I came to power A.D. 313, he legalized Christianity after converting from paganism and made the first Sunday-keeping law. His infamous Sunday enforcement law of March 7, A.D. 321, reads as follows: “On the venerable Day of the Sun let the magistrates and people residing in cities rest, and let all workshops be closed.”
The Sunday law was officially confirmed by the Roman Papacy. The Council of Laodicea in A.D. 364 decreed, “Christians shall not Judaize and be idle on Saturday but shall work on that day; but the Lord’s day they shall especially honour, and, as being Christians, shall, if possible, do no work on that day. If, however, they are found Judaizing, they shall be shut out from Christ”
So just as the Christians hijacked 25th December from the Romans and by papal decree ordered it to be known as the day Jesus Christ was born so they hijacked the bible and ordered a switch from Saturday to Sunday to be the day mass is celebrated to worship their lord. Now hundreds of years later it is ingrained in society that Sunday, Not Saturday is the sabbath and all Christians believe to be holy according to their bible..
The devout christian wishing and wanting to follow the "word of god" and adhere to the commandment of not working on the sabbath is in fact breaking this commandment and doing so without knowing it. The bible tells Catholics to keep the sabbath holy. The catholic church interfered and altered the so called "word of god" by papal decree to change the lords day from Saturday to Sunday. They did so because of their arrogance and pomposity, like a small child folding their arms and decreeing that they don't want to play the game with the other school children and make up their own game with their rules out of spite, indifference, and ego.
Most of the other branches of Christianity also regard Sunday as he lords day and keep it holy, I have met people who will not work on Sundays because of their faith. The church of England opposes longer shop opening hours here in the UK based on the "fact" the bible tells them to keep the sabbath holy, wishing to impose their rule for observance of this holy day onto the rest of society. The church petition for workers, unions and commercial businesses not to work on Sundays. And all this is based on a lie. The Sabbath is Saturday no matter what the christian hierarchy state.
Even the Protestants that separated from the Catholic Church and defied the pope are in fact following the rules of the pope and adhering to Roman Catholic wishes and traditions. it really is one big joke and total hypocrisy.
