Privilege.
The Seal of the confessional.
The seal of the confessional is sacrosanct according to cannon law. What ever the penitent confesses is before god and the priest and cannot be broken under any circumstances, even to other clergy. It is a religious privilege Priests may not reveal what they have learned during confession to anyone, even under the threat of their own death or that of others. For a priest to break secrecy would lead to a latae sententiae (automatic) excommunication,.
Lawyers and Doctors have a similar privilege within the legal professional however there is a big difference here.
The GMC says that a breach of confidentiality may be justified in the public interest where failure to do so 'may expose the patient or others to risk of death or serious harm'. You need to balance the patient's interest against the public interest in reporting a possible crime. Essentially, an attorney may not disclose any communication with a client to anyone outside of the client's legal team. ... However, there are some instances when it may not only be acceptable but necessary for an attorney to breach confidentiality.
They have a duty to act, again if they have information of a possible crime or death.
A few countries have tried to instigate new laws that would help to protect children from abuse by forcing the church to disclose if they hear of this in the confessional.
Ireland
In Ireland, mandatory reporting of child abuse was implemented in 2012 in the shape of the Criminal Justice (Withholding of Information on Offences Against Children and Vulnerable Persons) Act. However in 2018 the Irish Catholic Church's National Board for Safeguarding Children advised priests not to pass on to the authorities any information about child abuse which they hear in the confessional – thereby advising priests to break the law.
Australia
Archbishop Christopher Prowse of Canberra and Goulburn has said priests will not report crimes if that involved breaching the seal of confession, after a new mandatory reporting law was passed in the Australian Capital Territory. Australian Catholic bishops have stated, rather hysterically, that any softening of the seal of the confessional is an unwarranted attack on religious freedom, that priests will go to prison rather than comply with such a law“
California
California was debating whether to introduce laws to prosecute priests for failing to disclose information in cases when child abuse is revealed. The Vatican released a statement reaffirming the “inviolability” of the confidentiality of confession, and saying political pressure in this regard is a breach of religious liberty. Every political or legislative initiative intended to ‘force’ the inviolability of the sacramental seal would constitute an unacceptable offense against the libertas Ecclesiae (freedom of the Church), which does not receive its legitimacy from individual states, but from God,” the statement issued by Cardinal Mauro Piacenza, was approved by Pope Francis June 21 and published July 1. Bishop Michael Barber of Oakland issued a statement saying that neither he nor any of his priests would abide by the law if it came into effect.“I will go to jail before I will obey this attack on our religious freedom,” Barber wrote in May. “Even if this bill passes, no priest may obey it.
on July 9th 2019 the bill was dropped
The California Catholic Conference put out a statement Monday welcoming the withdrawal of the bill as a victory for religious freedom. “This outcome is good for the Catholic people of California and for believers of all faiths, not only in this state but across the country,” said Archbishop José Gomez of Los Angeles in a statement.
So there it is! The church will not comply with the any law of any country it operates in.....The Pope is stating his priests and bishops WILL BREAK THE LAW. They demand special privilege to commit these crimes, then cover up these crimes and protect pedophiles both in the church and society rather than help and protect children, who by their very nature need protection.
The Catholic church defiled molested and raped so many innocent children throughout history. They continue to protected their priests from the law by moving them around the world or to the Vatican, they now will protect potential pedophiles who admit their guilt to them by claiming the seal of the confessional. The Church is and always will get away with it unless governments stand up to this special privilege.
Lawyers, Doctors psychiatrists all understand patient / client confidentiality. They are bound by laws in most countries to keep what they learn and hear secret. BUT they realize and understand that there are times that it is right and moral to break that seal to protect lives and prevent a crime taking place. But a religion is above the law, above society. The church has attained a special privileged status.
It is wrong, immoral and despicable that these self absorbed men in dresses who abstain from sex ( unless it is on little boys) will go to any lengths to protect their abusive pedophile clergy from the law and now seek to extend this to the pedophiles of the world if they speak of it to one of their priests. This is more important to them than the rights and personal freedoms of an innocent child.

any other investor or business has to pay tax. But not the church it has a 100% Tax Privilege.
Wikipedia has a list of the wealthiest organisations The Vatican's business dealings are blank but other churches are there.
